Are You My Friend?

Friends, what really is the meaning of a friend and a "friend"? Many people in today's society and all around the world rely on friendships, offline and online. But the real question is, Who is my friend? The fact that they are your friend online does not mean they are a "friend" offline. I have noticed that many people have 200 + friends on Facebook, I know that it doesn't mean that they know exactly every single person that they have as a friend. Many people accept people they have never met or ever will but just to have them as a "friend". I see the number of friends to be fake, to be nothing else but a number letting us know that you only have the first number of the "friends." such as if you have 1,000 + friends you only have 1 friend in life. "We" act like ourselves face to face and be truthful with one another but when it comes to online, we act like total strangers. Either we post to much information that is not suppose to be told or we become the complete opposite just to try to be accepted by others. I, personally do not want to know when you are in the bathroom, when your eating and what not.  Being "Connected" with people does not mean I need to know every little thing that you do. Being "connected" with someone means that he/she is a true friend that will always be there for you when you most need it or least expect it, it means that they will hang out with you offline and online. Don't ignore the true friends you have..know the difference between a friend and a "friend" before it is to late.

Utopia?

In the book "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, it begins by letting us know the time the story takes place, "Late December." What does this portray? Dark days. In the first few pages of this short book, the story captivates you and drags you right into the "utopia." Thru out the reading you start questioning your self if the setting is really a "utopia" the more the story expands it begins to feel more like a dystopia. People isolated from the outside world, having to express the emotions of their whole day and denial of stuff they haven't had the opportunity to try.
